Modern Tool Ltd. was originally incorporated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1960 as a hand tool and shop supply company employing two people. In 1964 the business was purchased by Mr. George Senecal in partnership with Mr. Bill Meyer and Mr. Elmer Ormiston. The company’s direction after 1964 moved away from small tools and consumables toward machine tools and metalworking machinery lines. In the early 1970’s Modern Tool expanded its operations opening offices in the cities of Edmonton, Alberta also Regina, Saskatchewan and later, Vancouver B.C.
Over time: in 1973, Mr. Meyer left the partnership for other ventures, and in 1989 Mr. Ormiston retired. George Senecal has continued to steer the corporate ship as CEO and President over all of those years, with the aid of his family members and staff. We currently employ Thirty three persons in Calgary and Edmonton AB, Newmarket ON. and have agents in B.C., Saskatchewan, and Atlantic Canada. Modern Tool Ltd sells and services customers from coast to coast in Canada.
In 2010 we opened our office and showroom in, Ontario, and in 2014 we relocated the Ontario showroom to a larger and more easily accessed location in the city of Newmarket ON. (just off of the 404 highway) Directly North of Toronto, where we currently have additional three employees to serve customers in Ontario and Eastern Canada. In 2012 we added a permanent representative based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and to further serve our customers in Atlantic Canada we now have a permanent representative based in Nova Scotia.
